Psalm 19:1 the heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Many scientists say that the universe is always expanding. When I read this verse recently I was struck by the comparison between natural universal expansion and the fact that God's kingdom is constantly moving forward and spreading out.
And of the increase of His kingdom there shall be no end. (Isaiah 9:7)
It appears that the universe is a shadow.
I remember staring at the night sky with such wonder when I was growing up. When I was in 3rd grade I went to a planetarium on a school field trip. I still remember that as one of the most impacting events in my education. I was absolutely stunned as we stared up at the dome ceiling and learned all about the stars.
It's so mind blowing. 1,300,000 earths can fit inside the sun, and the sun is really just one tiny star amongst more galaxies than our minds can comprehend.
Psalm 19:1-6 (Message Bible)
1-2 God’s glory is on tour in the skies, God-craft on exhibit across the horizon. Madame Day holds classes every morning, Professor Night lectures each evening.
3-4 Their words aren’t heard, their voices aren’t recorded, But their silence fills the earth: unspoken truth is spoken everywhere.
4-5 God makes a huge dome for the sun—a superdome! The morning sun’s a new husband leaping from his honeymoon bed, The daybreaking sun an athlete racing to the tape.
6 That’s how God’s Word vaults across the skies from sunrise to sunset, Melting ice, scorching deserts, warming hearts to faith.
God's majesty and power and glory are expanding indefinitely forever.
He cannot be contained. You can try to box Him in if you really want to....
You can do a "Jonah" and run, but you can't hide from His kingdom purposes in your life. His kingdom is always growing, expanding, multiplying, AND....
He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. (Phil. 1:6)
If this encouraged you at all, I would love to hear about it.
